Hi Brian, I have never used a massage pad but I do have a tens unit and it
helps a lot. The key is not to leave it on continuously at least that is
what the physical therapist told me. About 20 minutes on then off for
twenty. You might also try alternating hot or cold. Have you tried zostrix
or it's generic equivalent?
I have low back pain from fracturing my pelvis and at I thought nothing
would help. I am going to start an arthritis program at the Y because even
limited exercise is better than none at all. I may have an epidural in
January, at least I am going to be evaluated for one. Till then I do what I
can to be as comfortable as I can.
The PT also told me that sitting in a recliner is probably the worst thing
you could do for back pain. I know it was for me because when I switched to
a straight back chair my upper back, shoulder and neck pain stopped. Of
course he also told me that waterbeds weren't great but I in my case it's
the only think I can sleep on.
So with all advice, take what works for you and leave the rest.
