The McKenzie 7 Step Method - The outcome for me has been nothing short of spectacular

Well said - that's why I first suggested the other thread, in which I
suggested the book. The book makes clear the points you make below.

When I first did the McKenzie exercises, I was under the care of a
physical therapist and did them as instructed by him and in front of
him. In my case, my symptoms had subsided enough that I was off
Percoset for about a week by that time, but I had to resume Percoset for
a few days after the first exercises because the centralized pain was
quite severe. (I suffered a severely laterally herniated L4-L5 and had
received a steroid injection a week earlier.) I say this because it
takes courage to do these exercises sometimes; in my case, it was
numbness and lack of feeling that was replaced by both a return of
sensation in my leg and a big increase in the pain in my back.

The outcome for me has been nothing short of spectacular. I'm in the
best shape of my entire life. I treat my back as I imagine an alcoholic
might treat his/her drinking problem - it will always be with me. The
experience has changed me forever, and for the better. I do the
McKenzie back exercises I described in my message every day and will
continue to do so the rest of my life.
