Lumbar Stenosis: Dr. says no more weights or running!

Posted by Bob Comarow

I've been rejuvenating my body as a 45 year old man, been alternating running on the beach with cross training and nautilus cycle.

Then my toe went numb. I'm not in any pain, but the MRI clearly shows my L4, L5 and S1 all show the nerve is compressed at least in half.

The Dr. says I can swim and do upper body that puts no strain on my spine. No lifting weights, just hanging stuff (like the gravitron).

Needless to say, I'm rather upset. I've been on a great program for about 1.5 years, took off over 60 pounds of disgusting fat, and built up slowly and steadily.
However, mostly I love running on the beach. It's about my favorite thing (one can do in public).

Any knowledgeable opinions?

Bob
