Yes, you can buy or rent (I rented) a TENS unit at a medical supply store and
you wear it all of the time. It's just a lil controller box that hooks to your
belt and the wires run from that to wherever you stick the electrode patches.
Mine didn't do shit for me but my pain is in my pelvis, not in my back (it was
just a case of the Dr not wanting to give me pain meds that he knew would work
so "let's try EVERYTHING BUT what works). It was kinda fun taking a positive
line and putting it on my lower arm and a negative line on my hand and cranking
it up, it will make your wrist bend. That's all the good I got from it but
I've heard they do help some people with back pain, which is what they were
made for in the first place so it only makes sense.
Yeah, I would call the pain doc tomorrow and tell her you read over that sheet
when you got home and talked to your (husband, SO, friend, mom, whomever) and
that there are just too many risks involved and that you don't want to have it
done. I hope everything works out for you!
