Re: Running after back surgery

I'm curious if you were able to begin running again.

I had a triple fusion on February 6 -- S1-L4. I was an avid runner. Running was not the cause for my need for surgery.

Before surgery, my doctor told me I might be able to run 5Ks and 10Ks, but would not be able to continue doing the distance running I was doing. Now that I've had my surgery, my doctor told me I would never be permitted to run again, yet a friend recently read in a magazine that people who have had my same procedure can indeed run shorter distances after fusion is complete. I'm curious what your outcome was. And if you are not permitted to run, what cardio do you do that gives you a good workout? Thanks
