I had a diskectomy on L5S1 in November of 1997. At that time, the pain in my back was more sever and the left leg pain just went to the back of the knee. The 2nd surgery on L5S1 was in August of 1999. The left leg pain went all the way to my foot. The muscle spasms were the worst. The pain was excruciating. I now believe I have a 3rd herniated disk on the same disk but now it is in the left leg going to the foot AND in my right leg going to the back of the knee. My Dr will NOT send me for an MRI until I have physical therapy. I explained that in the past, physical therapy had mad the pain worse and cause more damage, but she will not budge. I am in SO much pain. I now have to find another Dr and start ALL over again. Poor me :(
