For the past 5 weeks, I have had intense pain in the upper inside right thigh and a tightness, which transmits into pain, in the right buttock. I am a kidney transplant patient, 12 years, out and, initially, doctors feel that it is a hip problem from prolonged use of prednisone. When I initially stand up, the pain is most intense in the inner thigh and to the right of the vaginal area. The pain then surrounds only the upper thigh. Feels almost if I have a tight rubber band around upper thigh. Have been using a cane to to assist in walking.
Had an MRI done Thursday night. Will not know results until the 22nd. at which time I go to othopaedic specialist. I'm not sure I buy the hip problem and prednisone use so started "surfing" the web in search of answers and came across piriformis syndrome. The pain in inner thigh has decreased substantially but the pain in the right buttock has been constant. Do not have pain generating down into the leg, nor in the back. Does not hurt to sit, or lay down. Only when I stand and put my full weight down.
Anyone with similar problem and if so, do it sound like piriformis syndrome?
