Why is it that people almost always ignore the fact that chronic back pain can be a symptom of cancer? Back pain is a common symptom of multiple myeloma. Multiple myeloma is a cancer of the plasma cells of the bone marrow. It is treatable if caught early. It is usually fatal if not caught early. There are other cancers that cause back pain. The cure rate for multiple myeloma and other cancers would rise if people realized that back pain can be a symptom of cancer.
