Why do people almost always ignore the fact that back pain can be a symptom of cancer? Back pain is a common symptom of multiple myeloma. Multiple myeloma is a cancer of the plasma cells of the bone marrow. It is often treatable if caught early. It is seldom treatable if caught late. There are many other cancers that can cause back pain. We can lower the cancer death rate if we can make people realize that back pain can be a symptom of cancer.
