Herniated L5S1, had microdiskectomy, mostly cured still some pain 9 months later

I am 32. I was 31, 7 months pregnant and suffering severe sciatica. I had my baby, did physical therapy and it got worse. I finally got to the point where I couldn't walk because of the pain and muscle weakness in my right leg. Had the endoscopic microdiscectomy and could walk pain free for three days post surgery. Then, a little bit of pain began to creep in, then a little more, then a lot more. Mind you, I had a 7 1/2 week old baby to care for at this point and even with help I did have to nurse her. Well, I tried Physical therapy and my nerves were still really hot or irritated and didn't respond well to the therapy so I stopped for a few months. I just started back up in January and have been going faithfully three times a week for the last 5 months. My physical therapist is trained in Pilates and has helped me tremendously. Because I was pregnant when this occured and the disc herniated I could not take anti inflmatories or do the epidural injections. I am mostly pleased with the results of the surgery (anything was better than the excruciating pain and having my mobility stripped from me) but I do get a little down when I hear about people who had the surgery and are fine now. Happy for them but I get a little down for myself. Anyway, I would try the PT, epidural injections, Pilates and then consider this surgery. I would definitely do this surgery before ever considering a fusion because that has a list longer than you can imagine of complications. I pray that you are healed of your pain because I know what you are going through.
