Re: Piriformis Syndrome

I am a runner who suffers, time to time, from
piriformis syndrome symptons. It has flared up, once again,
while training for a half-marathon. I recently experienced
shooting pain, that radiated out on the lateral side of my
right knee(same side as my other symptons). The pain seemed
to be activated as the sciatic pain increased and radiated
down the thigh, on an uphill grade. I tx'd with ice and heat
for several days now. I tested the pain with a short run,
the knee pain returned once again as the sciatic pain
increased. I have never suffered a knee injury, nor had
any great knee pain with running.
I believe the sciatic nerve branches out to the lateral side
of the knee. Is it possible that the knee pain is related
to the piriformis syndrome? or just a big coincidence?
