In Reply to: My orthopaedic microsurgeon diagnosed a prolapsed / bulging (but not herniated) disc in L4 / 5. He is reccomending endoscopic discectomy to remove the disc posted by Tim Green
i have a similar problem. i am a paramedic and have been experiencing back pain for the past 9 months. i sought treatment with my orthopaedic surgeon who suggested therapy and corticosteroid injections for relief of the swelling. this was a 3 month process, i completed this and now the pain is back and twice as bad as before. i returned to my orthopaedic surgeon who did a follow up MRI which revealed the 2 original discs L2-3 adn L3-4 which had progressed in their bulging but now showed spinal stenosis of these discs as well as bulging at L4-5 adn L5-6. I was then sent to a back surgeon, who told me nothing at all and recommended more therapy and oral cortisone. Help, i need relief, not only for personal comfort, but to be able to perform my job. without a pain free back, i can't work.
