I had this surgery 5 years ago. I was scared too. But as soon as I woke up I knew I had don the right thing. My surgery pain was nothing compared to my pain from a ruptured disc. Go for it. The one thing I will tell you is that there are continuing problems. I have had back/leg pain off and on ever since. But it is much more bearable. Just tell you sister to follow ALL the post-op orders. Good luck!
